I found this area one autumns day near Laragh in Co. Wicklow while out walking in the mountains. Following a river along its course can give a unique view of so much of the countryside. Some places have well maintained foot bridges, or traditional stone bridges for cars to take turns crossing, but others are impassable on foot. The further you go into nature, the less it is constructed for people.

When I reached this section of the bank, I had to stop. The area was nearly totally isolated and the tree with almost white bark and sporting a shock of orange and yellow leaves took centre stage.

The river was calmer here, deeper, and languid, adding to the sense of calm and luxury on the small section of land.
