Laragh Waterways
A vibrant autumnal forest set against a playful lively river
Medium: Oil on canvas
Size: H40cm x W30cm
Laragh is one of my favourite places to visit in Wicklow. It's often overshadowed by the more famous nearby area of Glendalough, where the car parks are filled to bursting every weekend but this small neary village never disappoints.
Autumn is when the natural world truly goes on display, like so much else in life, the later stages are the ones with most vibrancy and depth.
The contrast between the large body of rushing water and the thin stand of vibrant trees in the background made this a scene worth painting.
The way the colours echo around the world and pick up through the moss on rock, through the bushes, and up to the heights of the failing canopy really make me stop and wonder if nature herself does in fact wield a paint brush, because she definitely has an artist's eye.
